Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took a jibe at the Trinamool Congress (TMC), saying that glamorous, The popular Bengali snack that hit the headlines after the Prime Minister’s recent snack break amid the election campaign has given a “resounding shock” to some people.

Addressing a public meeting in Krishnanagar, West Bengal, amid the first phase of voting on Thursday, Prime Minister Modi said:Jhalmuri maine khayi, lekin jhal TMC ko lagi hai. He accused the TMC of harboring “infiltrators” and promoting “Maha Jungle Raj”. He urged the people of Bengal to choose the BJP-led NDA as their government. Prime Minister Modi jokingly said that on May 4, the BJP will not only win sweets but jalmuri will also be distributed, news agency ANI reported.
“You should wave the BJP-NDA victory flag with all might. On May 4, BJP’s victory will also be celebrated in Bengal. Sweets will also be distributed. Jhalmuri will also be distributed. Jhalmuri also gave a resounding shock to some people. I ate jalmuri, but jhalmuri hit TMC.”
He also promised the Matua and Namashudra communities citizenship under the CAA if the BJP is elected to power.
“I have come to give an assurance that the Matua community, the Namashudra community, the refugee families need not fear the TMC. No one will be able to harm you. Everyone who came to India seeking asylum and dignity, Modi stands with them. Once the government is formed, the process of granting citizenship under the CAA will be expedited. You will get all the rights and benefits to which every Indian citizen is entitled. This is Modi’s guarantee,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi’s stop at Jalmuri sparked TMC reaction
While campaigning in West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi stopped by for a quick break on Sunday – a move that received a lot of attention.
In the video, PM Modi is seen asking a street food vendor for a packet of Jalmori. “Bhai, hami apna jalmuri khelao (Brother, please treat me with your jalmuri),” the prime minister was heard telling him. Modi then goes on to greet the shopkeeper and asks him how much the ‘jalmori’ costs.

TMC chief Mamata Banerjee took a jibe at the Prime Minister, saying his unscheduled stop at the booth was “scripted”.
“How were the cameras there when ‘Unscheduled’ stopped? The entire episode was scripted,” she said at a campaign rally in Morarai constituency on April 20.
