Two days after Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials collected samples from his shop on suspicion of adulteration, Siya Goyal’s father on Thursday issued a clarification, saying his shop was “not closed”.

“As far as my daughter is concerned, if she is convicted, she should get the harshest punishment,” Praveen Goyal said.

The US Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday collected samples from BG Goyal & Company, a dry fruits and spices store in Market Yard, owned by Siya Goyal’s father, Praveen Goyal, and issued a notice to it. Sia is accused of murdering 26-year-old realtor Ketan Agarwal. Speaking about the action taken by the FDA, Praveen told news agency ANI: “On the morning of July 14, around 11:30 am, food department officials visited my store and collected four samples…”

He said the other problem was with his license, which he recently applied for and which is expected to arrive in eight to 10 days. “Until then, I was asked to keep the store closed, and I complied. The store was not closed…” he said. Speaking to ANI, Praveen asserted that he stands with the judiciary and supports the investigation against his daughter. However, he said he has been “stressed for a long time,” adding that people have been “targeting his family repeatedly for a long time.”

He said: “With regard to my daughter, if she is found guilty, she should receive the maximum punishment. I stand with the judiciary and the law, and I will fully cooperate with the investigation.” He added: “But people target my family over and over again, and I feel like I am being punished instead. My family is suffering because of this. I have been under pressure for a long time.” Sia is currently in judicial custody in connection with Agarwal’s murder. Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, are accused of pushing Agarwal off a cliff in Lohagad Fort on June 18.

FDA action against Praveen Goyal Store

The Food and Drug Administration visited Paraffin’s store on Tuesday this week and claimed to have seized food products worth $8.14 lakh due to suspected cheating and described violations, officials said on Wednesday.

The action was taken on Tuesday as part of the ‘Safe Food, Safe Drug, Safe Maharashtra’ enforcement drive launched by the FDA at the state level. The officials collected four food samples, including turmeric powder sold under the Sant and Sadhu brands, sesame seeds and soybean pieces, and seized 4,172 kg of food products. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also issued a notice to the store, asking it to cease operations due to alleged violations of standards, PTI The news agency reported, citing officials.

The regulator said the action was taken due to non-compliance with certain mandatory provisions under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
