Airlines IndiGo has announced an increase in air ticket prices after the government hiked aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices. Revised fuel charges vary depending on distance, and are the lowest $275 for less than 500 km $950 for more than 2000 km.

The highest change in fuel prices was for destinations in the UK and Europe, excluding Greece and Turkey, with a new cost $10,000.
IndiGo said the new price will apply to bookings made after 1am on Thursday. The move comes after the Petroleum Ministry said aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices rose by 25% on Wednesday.
“IndiGo has also recalibrated its domestic fuel charges to vary depending on travel distances. All domestic bookings made from 0001 hours on 02 April 2026 will include the following revised fuel charges for each sector,” IndiGo said in a statement.
Fuel accounts for about 40% of airline operating costs.
“In order to insulate domestic travel costs from the significant increase in international prices, the PSUs under the Ministry of Petroleum, in consultation with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, have passed on only a partial and intermittent increase of 25% (only Rs 15 per litre) to airlines,” the Ministry of Petroleum said in a social media post.
From March 14 onwards, the airline has already imposed fuel charges ranging from $425 LBP $2,300 pounds on local and international flight tickets, with fuel prices jumping in the wake of the US-Iran war.
