He was speaking at an event after the virtual distribution of appointment letters for central government jobs to more than 51,000 young people within the framework of the Rozgar Mela initiative launched by the Centre. The recruits will play an important role in achieving the goal of ‘Fixit Bharat’ by 2047, he said.

“Today, all young recruits have become key partners in the country’s development journey. In railways, banking, defence, health, education and many other sectors, all young people are about to take on new responsibilities,” he said.

“In the coming years, you will all play an important role in realizing the resolve for a developed India. On this achievement, I congratulate you, as well as your family members, very warmly,” the Prime Minister added.

Since the establishment of the ‘Rozgar Mela’, around 12 lakh employment letters have been issued through 18 such events held across the country.

“The Rozgar Mela reflects our government’s commitment to empowering ‘Yuva Shakti’ with new opportunities. Today, the world wants to be part of India’s development journey,” Modi said.

The ‘Rozgar Mela’ was held at 47 locations across the country on Saturday. The appointees, drawn from across India, will join various ministries and departments, including Railways, Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Financial Services and Higher Education departments, among others.

Referring to his recent visit to five countries, Modi said discussions with global companies and leaders of other countries reflect growing confidence in India’s technological capabilities and manpower. He said that cooperation with countries such as the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, the United Arab Emirates and Italy in sectors including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, green technology and vital minerals would create opportunities for engineers, technicians, researchers and skilled workers.

The Prime Minister specifically highlighted an agreement involving Dutch semiconductor equipment company ASML and the Tata Group, saying it would help India transition to next-generation technologies and generate large-scale employment opportunities.

“India is also rapidly expanding its infrastructure and manufacturing environment through investments in shipbuilding, aviation maintenance and electronics manufacturing,” he said.

“The country is building a complete semiconductor supply chain, and we expect at least 10 key semiconductor units to emerge in the coming years. The investment is worth approx. $The Prime Minister added that Rs 75,000 crore in shipbuilding and repair would significantly increase the demand for skilled workers.

Modi also noted the expansion of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) ecosystem in the aviation sector and said the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has boosted electronics manufacturing and job creation.

He said sectors such as manufacturing, digital services, railways, defence, aerospace and startups are generating opportunities at an unprecedented pace, while the government is focusing on skill development and future-ready education through institutions such as international technological institutes and national skills training centres.

Highlighting India’s startup ecosystem, Modi said, “The country now has over 2.3 lakh recognized startups, with tier II and III cities increasingly emerging as hubs of innovation and entrepreneurship.”

He also stressed on the increasing participation of women in entrepreneurship, citing ventures like Mudra and PM SVANidhi as key drivers of self-employment and financial independence.

Modi urged the newly appointed employees to work with commitment and sensitivity and said public service should be viewed as national service. “The nation has placed its trust in you,” he said.
