Footage from the site allegedly showed the plane lying next to the runway after making an emergency landing.
An Indian Air Force AN-32 transport aircraft was involved in an accident in Jorhat, Assam on Saturday, the Indian Air Force said in a statement, adding that there are fears that its pilot may have lost his life in the accident.
The accident occurred when the twin-engine turboprop aircraft was landing at the Jorhat Air Base in Assam. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined and an investigation has been ordered.
Videos purportedly of the aftermath of the accident have emerged, showing the plane splitting into two parts at the Jorhat airstrip.
Shortly after the plane landed, the emergency response team rushed to the site to conduct firefighting and rescue operations. The footage showed rescue workers trying to put out the fire, which reportedly occurred after landing.

An Air Force spokesman said in a statement: “An An-32 aircraft belonging to the Israeli Air Force was involved in an accident today while landing in Jorhat. An investigation court is being formed to ascertain the cause of the accident.”
In 2019, an AN-32 plane crashed over Arunachal Pradesh after taking off from Assam. The An-32 aircraft took off from Jorhat on June 3, 2019 and was en route to a forward landing zone at Mechuka in Chi Yumi district of Arunachal Pradesh when it lost contact with ground control.
Rescuers later found the wreckage during a search operation 16 km north of Lipu, northeast of Tatu in Arunachal.
