US President Donald Trump issued a clarification on his “hell” comment on India, through a statement through the Washington Embassy in New Delhi on Thursday.

Trump on Thursday posted a transcript of a conservative political talk show hosted by Michael Savage, in which he referred to India, China and other countries as “hell” — places where people come to Washington in their ninth month of pregnancy and immediately become American citizens.
A US embassy spokesman said: “The president said that India is a great country and there is a very dear friend of mine at the top.”
The text shared by Trump mainly criticizes the ACLU, accusing it of supporting policies that allegedly benefit illegal immigrants at the expense of American citizens, adding that “those crooked lawyers stole the country from us.” The host, whose ideology aligns with that of the US president, was arguing against US birthright citizenship, which guarantees automatic citizenship to almost anyone born within US territory, regardless of parentage.
These issues should not be decided in courts, Savage said, adding that “it’s not really about the law.” Instead, he said, it should be decided by public opinion. He also criticized the US Constitution, saying that it cannot be changed because it is “written in stone.”
