India and Germany intend to enhance cooperation in the areas of defence, green hydrogen, renewable energy and biotechnologies against the backdrop of geopolitical turmoil caused by the conflict in West Asia.

This was among the outcomes of the Indo-German Foreign Ministry consultations co-chaired by Foreign Minister Vikram Misri and German Secretary of State at the Foreign Ministry Gésa Andreas von Geer, in Berlin on Tuesday. Al-Masry also met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadewohl.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the consultations were an opportunity for the two sides to review bilateral relations and explore ways to deepen their strategic partnership. They also discussed the conflict in West Asia and the Russian-Ukrainian war.
After a comprehensive review of Indo-German relations, including trade, security, technology, sustainable development and mobility, the two sides agreed to deepen and diversify cooperation in critical and emerging technologies, defence, industrial cooperation, digital governance, renewable energy, green hydrogen, innovation and development cooperation in third countries.
Al-Masry also interacted with senior foreign policy experts, members of parliament, and senior officials in the federal and state governments in Germany at the Korber Foundation. His visit, part of a tour that also took him to France, comes on the heels of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s trip to India in January.
The visit helped strengthen cooperation in priority areas and explore the outcomes of upcoming government consultations between India and Germany later this year, the reading said.
