The fun festival of Holi turned into horror for a four-year-old boy in Koradi area of Maharashtra’s Nagpur district on Wednesday, as his grandmother poured hot water on him as she was angry that the boy had splashed paint on her.

The incident, which occurred on March 3 in Ward No. 2 of Aramchin area, was captured on surveillance cameras, news agency PTI reported.

The boy was reportedly playing outside his house with a spray bottle filled with paint when he accidentally sprayed it on his grandmother, Sindhu Thackeray, who was filling a bucket with hot water on the holly wood. This made her angry, so she poured boiling water on the boy, police said.
Om suffered severe burns below the waist and was taken to a private hospital in Nagpur. Doctors estimate that the rate of burns reaches 45%. The police began the process of registering a crime against women.

A video of the incident has surfaced online showing Sindhu in a black sari walking with a bucket filled with water. The child approaches her and tries to spray colors on her, but she responds by throwing water from the bucket at him. The child screams in pain and jumps away from the woman. Another woman carrying a bucket, perhaps with cold water, approaches and throws cold water on the child in an attempt to ease his pain. Soon Granny also joins in by sprinkling cold water on his burn injuries.

11 injured in Barabanki
In another violent incident linked to Holi, at least 11 people were injured in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district when a dispute over playing with colors turned into a violent clash between two groups, according to reports.
The agency reported, citing police, that two groups clashed in a verbal duel over playing with colours, which quickly escalated into a violent confrontation as the two groups allegedly attacked each other with sticks, batons and iron bars for about 10 minutes. The incident sparked panic in the area. Which prompted the people to intervene and control the situation.
While the situation was under control, a local resident named Avdesh told PTI that members of the rival group entered his house when there were no male members and assaulted his family. He claimed that when he and others arrived there and tried to intervene, they were also beaten.
