Heavy rain is likely in 15 districts of Tamil Nadu from Sunday, as the southwest monsoon remains active, the IMD said.
Heavy rain is likely to lash the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Kanyakumari and Ghat in Virudhunagar, Tenkasi and Tirunelveli districts from Sunday, the latest bulletin from the Regional Meteorological Center here said.
As for the northern parts of Tamil Nadu, the weather data said that heavy rains are likely in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts during the same period.

Fishermen have been warned that gusty winds of 45-55 kmph are likely to prevail over some parts of the southwest and adjoining south-eastern Bay of Bengal from June 29.
Likewise, the Met Office has also issued an ocean current alert for Nagapattinam, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Karaikal and Ramanathapuram coasts, advising port and marine operations to be cautious.

The report also added that maximum temperatures are likely to be close to normal from Saturday to June 30 over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal region.
As for Chennai and its suburbs, the meteorological report forecast moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning on Saturday.
