A video of a man relentlessly confessing to shooting what he described as his wife’s lover has surfaced on social media, in which the accused is seen filming himself while riding a two-wheeler and even displaying the weapon used in the crime that took place in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

HT had earlier reported that the victim, a 28-year-old man, was shot dead in broad daylight amid a crowded market in the Remraj area near the district border on Wednesday afternoon.
Police suspected it was a revenge killing linked to an alleged extramarital affair, suspicions that an alleged viral video of the man’s confession now appears to confirm.
Shocking confession, gherao by the cops, lit by my hand
The man can be heard shouting insults while riding a motorcycle, saying in the video that he “fired three bullets” at the victim – “12 bullets, 32 bullets, and 315 bullets,” calling for the clip to be widely disseminated.
“Send this video to SSP Meerut.”
The man says in the video: “I killed him… I was expelled from my home… I transferred my property in the name of my brothers… Death looms over my head… I have a shroud two and a half meters long in my hand… I got it today after a year and a half… I killed him and I will kill her too… I am not afraid of the authorities… If the authorities do not take action against these women who fled, they will die like this.”
Hindustantimes.com chose not to include the video in the report due to the extreme language used in it.
In another clip that emerged later on Thursday, the man was seen surrounded by plainclothes Meerut Police personnel during a dramatic operation. “The police have not listened to my complaints for the past year and a half,” he can be heard saying.
In a separate video, he was seen lighting Bedi before handing him over to the police.
How the crime unfolded
The deceased Surendra Singh, a resident of Jagjivan Puri area of Ramraj, was passing through Bahsoma Market on his motorcycle around 2:30 pm when a lone attacker arrived on another bike and opened fire.
The attacker first shot Surendra from behind, hitting him in the lower back. As he fell on the road, the accused ran towards him, pressed his gun to his temple, and then fired a second shot, killing him instantly, according to details mentioned in the previous HT report.
Witnesses said the attacker screamed loudly after the first shot, daring anyone who was there to save the victim before firing again. The shooting took place outside the Sanatan Dharma Temple, causing chaos as shoppers and passers-by fled in panic.
People nearby rushed to help and took Surendra, who was bleeding heavily, to the hospital. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Police officers, including Superintendent of Police (Rural) Abhijeet Kumar, reached the spot soon after they were alerted. Investigators questioned market vendors and witnesses and issued instructions to forensic and field teams. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.
According to preliminary police findings, Surendra allegedly eloped about a year and a half ago with a married woman from a village in the Falawa police station area. He was reportedly planning to marry her in court.
Investigators believe the woman’s husband had been waiting for the opportunity to take revenge ever since she left him. Police said the suspect and Surendra had previously argued in public over the woman. Officials suspect that the husband carried out the killing when he found Surendra alone. Authorities said the crime scene is located close to administrative boundaries: Ramraj town is in Muzaffarnagar, while Bahsoma police are under the jurisdiction of Meerut, further complicating the investigation.
