She joined the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) immediately after her marriage. Working as an assistant, she would have been thrilled to work for an IT giant. Instead, she claims it all turned into a horrific experience of harassment, taunts and obscene gestures from her colleagues.

Following initial reports on the case, a TCS spokesperson condemned the incident and stated that the company has a “zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion. (Reuters/Representative)”

The woman is among more than half a dozen women who have leveled accusations of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion against some of their colleagues at the TCS Nashik branch. The case is now being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and has led to the arrest of eight people. A total of nine FIRs have been filled.

The victim told investigators that she has been working in the TCS Nashik unit since June 2025, after her marriage.

“Since June 20, 2025, after my marriage, I have been working in the TCS Nashik branch as an assistant. My three-month training began on June 24, 2025. My training leaders were Shahrukh Qureshi and Jayesh Gunjal,” NDTV quoted her as telling the police.

The woman said that Raza Menon, head of the BPO’s loan branch team, would repeatedly come up to her in the training room at that time and ask about her personal life. He allegedly has no connection to the field of coaching.

He allegedly asked her how she manages everything since her husband lives far away. Don’t be afraid, he allegedly asked her and offered to help. He also asked her where she went for her honeymoon and what she did there.

Raza Memon’s family said the office’s policies were the motive behind the “false” accusations against him.

The woman also alleged that Memon used to get support from her team captain Shahrukh Qureshi, who was also commenting on her marriage. She said he would ask her if she had an arranged marriage or a love marriage.

According to her claim, Memon would also join Shahrukh in harassing her and tell her that if she didn’t agree with her husband, she could tell them about it.

The woman claimed that Reda was the one who called her a “gamer” and said she did not have many friends.

“Reza used to call me ‘Player’. Whenever I came to the office, he would address me exclusively as ‘Player’. If I faced any difficulties in my work and mentioned them to Shah Rukh, he would call up Reza. Then Reza would come and say: ‘What’s the matter, Player?’ Can’t handle the work? If you are having difficulty, just let me know,” the woman told police.

On Gudi Padwa Day in March this year, the woman complained that it was Reza who pulled her sari. “As I was walking down the hall, through the pantry, I felt someone pulling my pallu (the loose end of the sari). When I turned around, I saw that my pallu was in Reza’s hand. I immediately pulled my pallu back, whereupon he looked at me with an obscene look and smiled.”

What the accused’s family said

According to Raza Memon’s family, internal professional rivalry and office politics are the motive behind the “false” sexual harassment and diversionary allegations leveled against the TCS employee.

The family described him as “high-functioning.”

Speaking to news agency PTI, Memon’s uncle Ayaz Kazi said the case was part of a coordinated “conspiracy” spurred by Memon’s academic and professional performance.

Memon is currently in police custody along with seven others.

Memon’s family members also made allegations of caste discrimination in the case against him. Kazi claimed that people above Memon in the hierarchy were from different religions, yet no action was taken against them.

What TCS and Maharashtra Government said

TCS has clarified that it has a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion in any form, and employees allegedly involved in sexual harassment at the Nashik office have been suspended.

India’s largest private sector employer said on Friday that a preliminary review of records indicated that it had not received any complaints “of the kind alleged on either the ethics or POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) channels”.

TCS announced the formation of an oversight committee and involvement of external entities in its internal investigation.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said it was of grave concern as it indicated “corporate jihad”.
