The embassy said in a statement that the two Indian citizens were traveling as crew on the ship linked to the Hanta virus and were evacuated to the Netherlands and will be isolated under the health safety protocol.

The statement also said, “The Ambassador is in close contact with the Spanish authorities and the Indian nationals (crew members) and is monitoring the situation regularly to ensure the welfare and safety of the Indian nationals.”

Meanwhile, France said one of five French passengers on a cruise ship hit by a Hantavirus outbreak developed symptoms during a repatriation flight on Sunday.

French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said on the X website: “One of them developed symptoms on the return plane.” He added: “These five passengers were immediately placed in strict isolation until further notice.”

He added: “They are receiving medical treatment and will undergo medical examinations and examinations.”

On Sunday, the first group of passengers from the cruise ship hit by the Hantavirus outbreak began disembarking in small boats. The evacuation comes after the cruise ship MV Hondius was exposed to an outbreak of the Hanta virus, which is spread through the urine and droppings of infected rodents, and is rarely transmitted between people.

The Dutch-flagged MV Hondius arrived at the small industrial port of Granadilla on Tenerife early on Sunday.

The Spanish Ministry of Health said that no more than 140 people on board the ship Hondius showed symptoms of the virus.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reiterated that the general public should not be concerned about the outbreak.

“We repeated the same answer several times,” he said. “This is not another Covid virus. The risk to the public is low. So they should not be afraid and do not panic.”
