His family confirmed in a statement that Raymond’s former boss Vijaypat Singhania died in Mumbai on Saturday evening.

The 87-year-old son of Gautam Singhania, the group’s current chairman and managing director, announced his death in a social media post on ‘X’.
A Raymond Group spokesperson said Singhania died “peacefully” in Mumbai, and the last rites will be performed on Sunday.
Raymond led for two decades
After receiving the Padma Bhushan, Vijaypat Singhania led Raymond as chairman for two decades until 2000. After stepping down, he handed over the reins of the company to Gautam Singhania and transferred his entire 37 per cent stake in the company to his son.
Apart from his career, Singhania was also a keen pilot and held a world record for the highest altitude achieved in a hot air balloon.
Vijaypat Singhania and Gautam Singhania were involved in legal disputes several years ago, though the cases were later settled.
