According to Kullu police, information was received from Manali Civil Hospital that a youth was brought to the hospital dead. A police team arrived at the scene and identified the body.

“Prima facie, no external injury marks were found on the body,” police said.

According to the statement of a friend accompanying the deceased, Veer Soren had come to Manali with his friends and was staying in a house in Simsa area. On Monday, the group visited Solang, Sithan and Hamta Pass as part of their tourism itinerary.

The police said that the young man suddenly complained of a severe headache after returning. He was given medication but soon lost consciousness and fell out of bed. While he was being taken to the hospital, he reportedly foamed from his mouth.

Doctors at Manali Civil Hospital performed CPR in an attempt to revive him, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Although the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed, police suspect that altitude sickness (hypoxia) could have led to the death.

“The family refused to conduct an autopsy. Prima facie there is nothing wrong and there were no external injuries on the body. The body has been handed over to the family,” Manali DSP KD Sharma said.
