A 24-year-old woman died after she “fell from the roof” of her in-laws’ house in Jalpura village in Greater Noida. The police have reportedly arrested her husband and father-in-law in a suspected dowry-related death case.

Her husband and father-in-law were detained after a complaint filed by the woman’s family.
Authorities said legal proceedings, including an investigation and post-mortem examination, are underway while investigators examine the circumstances surrounding her death.

“Just yesterday, I went to their house and talked to them. But half an hour after I left, I received a call from [father-in-law]“Who informed me that my daughter had fallen,” he told ANI.
“I asked him: Did you fall on the stairs? Did you fall in the bathroom?” He replied: “She fell from the roof, and we are now taking her to Sharda Hospital.” When we arrived at the hospital and saw her, we found her dead. “We called the police immediately,” he added.
“People like this deserve nothing less than a meeting.”
“They did not tell us anything, they just said that she had fallen and asked us to come to Sharda Hospital,” the uncle claimed. He added: “We also thought she might have suffered an ordinary injury. Now, after going there, we discovered that she had died.”
He added: “There are signs of physical assault all over her body, and there is also a deep cut, likely caused by a blade, screwdriver or something similar.” He added: “It is a very deep wound, and after they beat her, they threw her from the balcony in an attempt to portray the incident as an accident, and the motive behind this was the dowry.”
The police did not confirm the family’s claims, and said that the exact cause of death would be determined after the autopsy report and further investigations.
Dowry death case in Bhopal
In a separate case, he is 33 years old A Noida woman was found hanged at her matrimonial home in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal on May 12. The family has now accused her husband and mother-in-law of harassment and murder over dowry.
Police said the woman met A A lawyer based in Bhopal through a dating app in 2024 and married him in December 2025 before moving to Katara Hills area of Bhopal with his family. Her relatives claimed that she was unhappy in her marriage, and complained of being harassed and physically assaulted by her husband and in-laws shortly before her death.
While the police initially treated the case as a suspected suicide, an FIR related to the death and molestation was later registered against the husband and his mother after complaints from the family.
A six-member special investigation committee has been formed to probe allegations of dowry harassment, assault and destruction of evidence.
