India Post and Flipkart on Friday signed an agreement to boost last-mile parcel delivery services across the country, in a move aimed at boosting India’s fast-growing e-commerce logistics ecosystem.

The agreement was signed in New Delhi between the Department of Posts (DoP), under the Ministry of Communications, and Flipkart India Private Limited. The partnership will combine India Post’s extensive delivery network with Flipkart’s e-commerce reach to improve parcel deliveries across urban, semi-urban and rural areas in India, officials from both organizations said.

What is the agreement between India Post and Flipkart?
“Under the agreement, the Postal Department will provide last-mile delivery services for Flipkart shipments across India,” the Ministry of Communications said in a statement.
The agreement was signed by Shri Neeraj Kumar Jha, Director General, Directorate of Parcels, Department of Posts, and Shri Harvinder Kapoor, Chief Commercial Officer, Flipkart India Private Limited, in the presence of senior officials from both sides, including Shri Adnan Ahmed, Director General, Directorate of Parcels and Carbon Capture and Storage, and Shri Debi Vankani, Director (Corporate Affairs) of Flipkart.
The collaboration will allow Flipkart to utilize India Post’s extensive network of over 1.6 lakh post offices to expand deliveries to remote and underserved areas.
What will the services include?
According to the government, services under the partnership will include prepaid parcel delivery, cash on delivery (COD), OTP-based delivery authentication and real-time shipment tracking.
“The partnership aims to leverage Postal Management’s unparalleled reliable delivery network coupled with Flipkart’s strong presence in the e-commerce segment in India to provide efficient, reliable and customer-focused parcel delivery solutions across the country,” the statement said.
The agreement will enable Flipkart to leverage India Post’s expanded delivery network to enhance last-mile parcel services across urban, semi-urban and rural areas, including remote and underserved areas.
Speed, efficiency and customer experience are improved
Under this partnership, India Post will handle prepaid and cash on delivery (COD) shipments, while also offering OTP-based delivery verification and real-time tracking services.
The collaboration aims to improve delivery speed, operational efficiency and customer experience through close coordination and seamless technology integration. It is also expected to strengthen the logistics backbone that supports India’s rapidly expanding e-commerce sector.
