Prime Minister Modi on Thursday hit out at the opposition, saying those spreading panic over LPG are “exposing themselves” during his speech at the NXT Summit 2026 in Delhi.
He added that India is fully committed to meeting the challenge, “leaving no stone unturned” while actively working on multiple fronts to ensure energy stability.
The Prime Minister noted that he spoke with many world leaders and that ongoing efforts are being made to overcome obstacles in the energy supply chain.
“India will do its utmost to ensure that its farmers and citizens are protected from the burden of global challenges,” Prime Minister Modi was quoted as saying by PTI.

Earlier today, Energy Minister Hardeep Puri gave “full” assurances that there is “no fuel shortage” in India amid growing concerns due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
“There is no shortage of petrol, diesel, kerosene, ATF or fuel oil. The availability of petrol, diesel, aviation and fuel oil is fully assured,” Puri said in his Lok Sabha speech.

Stressing that what the world is currently going through is something it has never faced in history, Puri said India has to “deal with the consequences” of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, even though it has no role in it.
Some commercial LPG cylinders will be launched
Amid the closure of hotels and restaurants over fears of fuel shortages, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Thursday announced that some commercial LPG cylinders will be released, adding that state governments will identify the beneficiaries.
The Oil Ministry also said that 40,000 kiloliters of additional kerosene has been allocated to states as an alternative to LPG.
Nearly 50,000 cylinders are being delivered daily, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said during an inter-ministerial press conference, adding that no drought has been reported “on the distribution side.”
