A 22-year-old truck driver was burnt to death after he was trapped inside the mangled cab after two trucks collided on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal highway near Patli Hajipur village in Farrukhnagar in Gurugram early on Saturday, police said.

The police identified the deceased as Dipu Kumar, who was from Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. Police said he was driving a truck bearing Haryana registration number and was trapped inside the driver’s cabin after the collision on the road towards Kundli from Palwal.
A senior police officer said that the passengers informed the police control room at 1.20 am, but by the time rescue teams reached the spot, the two trucks had caught fire.
“Prima facie, it appears that the Haryana-registered truck ended up colliding with the Uttar Pradesh-registered truck. The collision resulted in a fire that engulfed both the vehicles,” he said.
Meanwhile, fire department officials said they received information about the incident at 1.57 am, following which one fire engine from Manesar and Pataudi fire stations was pressed into action.
A fire department official said: “Firefighters found the remains of a completely charred body on the driver’s seat of the back truck and handed it over to the police to take legal measures after it was recovered.”
Gurugram Police Public Relations Officer Sandeep Turan said police were investigating how the collision occurred and what led to the fire. He added: “The family members of the deceased have been informed of the incident. Additional measures will be taken once a written complaint is submitted.”
Police officers said that the accident led to congestion on the road, and the two trucks were evacuated after the fire extinguishing operation and the two burning trucks were removed from the scene.
