Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged all citizens to join hands to overcome the “difficult” situation arising due to the ongoing “fierce war” in West Asia.

In his monthly radio address ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Modi also warned those who are politicizing the current crisis and said there is no place for self-serving politics in the prevailing situation.
He said that those who spread rumors are causing great harm to the country.
“At present, a fierce war has been going on in our neighborhood for a month. These are definitely difficult times. Today, through Mann Ki Baat, I would once again urge all my countrymen that we must overcome this challenge united,” the Prime Minister said.
Those who are politicizing this issue should refrain from doing so as this is a matter of interest of 140 crore citizens. He said there is no place for politics that serves self-interests.
“I would also like to appeal to all citizens to remain vigilant and not be fooled by rumours. Just trust the continuous information provided by the government and take action based on that only,” he added.
As always, Modi said he was confident that just as the people of the country overcame past crises with their collective strength, this time too, “together we will emerge victorious from this difficult situation.”
He said that millions of Indian families live in these Gulf countries and work there.
“I am very grateful to the Gulf countries, which are providing all kinds of assistance to more than a million Indians living there,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that West Asia is a major hub for India’s energy needs, which is why a crisis is emerging across the world regarding petrol and diesel.
“Our global relationships, the support we receive from various countries and the strengths the country has built over the past decade have enabled India to face these circumstances courageously,” he said.
At the beginning of his speech, Modi said that the month of March was full of turmoil globally.
He said that all citizens of the country remember that the whole world has faced countless problems for a long time due to Covid.
Modi said: “In fact, we all expected that after emerging from the Corona crisis, the world would move forward on the path of renewed progress.”
However, he said that situations of war and conflict constantly arise in different parts of the world.
The conflict in West Asia began on February 28. While the United States and Israel attacked Iran, the Islamic Republic responded by targeting Washington’s allies in its neighborhood and in Tel Aviv.
Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz, a major shipping route through which 20% of global energy is transported. Since the conflict began, Iran has allowed very few ships to pass.
Modi has spoken to a number of world leaders, including those of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Iran, France, Israel and Malaysia, since the conflict began.
He also spoke with US President Donald Trump. After a phone conversation between the two on March 24, Modi said he “had a useful exchange of views on the situation in West Asia.”
