A video purporting to show a Delhi Police sub-inspector slapping a woman during a police operation at a hotel in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh ​​Nagar area has gone viral online. The force has now ordered an administrative investigation and the officer to be transferred.

The incident occurred in Panchwati district after police were called to a hotel over a late-night dispute. according to Delhi Police, A woman called the police helpline claiming that several women carrying firearms had come to kill her.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found that the clash was in fact related to a financial dispute, and that the claim about weapons was unfounded. During interrogation, Sub-Inspector Himanshu allegedly lost his temper and slapped one of the women involved in the incident, police said.

The officer was transferred to area lines.

“PG investigation has also been initiated to examine the complete sequence of events. The matter is being further investigated,” Delhi Police said in a statement.

The seller, Bhola Mahto (44 years old), said that two women accused him of stealing a bag of money that they had misplaced in the store. After they called the police, two officers took him to a nearby police station, where he was allegedly beaten, before being taken to the police station and assaulted again. He claimed that he had injuries that would take about a month to heal.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Panthia confirmed the action taken against the officer and said that the policeman has been suspended and an administrative investigation has been ordered.
