A 25-year-old Indian student has reportedly died in the US after the car she was traveling in with three others collided with another speeding vehicle from behind at a red light in New York. The deceased Indian student, Prasanna Atluri, had recently graduated from Pace University’s Lubin Business School and was looking for job opportunities in the United States.

Prasanna’s family said she was on her way to the temple when the accident occurred, killing the two on the spot and seriously injuring two others, NDTV reported.

The fatal accident happened on July 5, and her family have now launched a crowdfunding appeal to have her body returned to India. Prasanna was from Mulappadu, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh.
“Prasanna was the pillar of her family and the person everyone relied on for guidance, emotional support and financial stability. Even while managing her own student loans, she never hesitated to help others. Prasanna supported people quietly and steadily, with a heart full of love,” said her cousin, Ravi Kumar Alturi, who set up the crowdfunding appeal on behalf of the family.

As the family seeks support, the crowdfunding appeal says Prasanna’s loved ones are struggling to cover the costs of her last rites, relatives’ travel expenses, and her outstanding student loan. “I created this fundraiser so they can grieve without the burden of financial stress,” Ravi said.
