The social media accounts of the Kukrush Janta Party, also known as the CJP, have crossed 10 million followers on Instagram, overtaking the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Furthermore, the satirical outfit’s X (formerly Twitter) account was later blocked in the country.

The filings with the trademark registry come amid growing interest around the political satirical group. According to the examination conducted by HT, at least three applications have been submitted at present.

The trademark has been applied under Class 45, which covers legal services, physical security services, and personal or social services provided by others to meet the needs of individuals.

According to the official website, separate applications have been filed by individuals Azim Adambhai Jam and Akhand Swarup, and by a company owned by the Dipki Kukrush Janta Party.

Describing itself as the “voice of the lazy and the unemployed”, the Kokroche Janta Party came into being after CJI Kant’s remarks, in which he described some unemployed youth as “cockroaches” and “parasites”, sparked massive outrage online.

The CJP, whose headquarters is “Where Wi-Fi Works,” was launched on May 16 and quickly took over Indian social media. Abhijit Debke, who founded it, said that the CJP started as a joke and has since evolved beyond that.
