In a statement, Revanth Reddy said the Supreme Court’s decision came as a huge relief to thousands of aspirants in the first group who had spent years in uncertainty, waiting for job notifications and results. “Many candidates have suffered from long-term anxiety about their future, often unable to rely on family support while facing doubts about securing employment,” he said.

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the Telangana High Court’s earlier order on February 5, giving the green light to the TGPSC in appointing the Group-I posts and allowing the state government to go ahead with their appointments to various top administrative posts, people familiar with the matter said.

Dismissing the petitions filed by P Adhitya and others against the TGPSC, a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta said it was not inclined to interfere in the judgment and order of the Supreme Court.

The Prime Minister welcomed the ruling and said that the ruling confirms his government’s commitment to transparency and integrity in public employment.

The Prime Minister said that soon after assuming office in December 2023, his government expedited the recruitment process by issuing notifications, conducting examinations and delivering appointment letters within a short time frame.

He said the administration successfully overcame “malicious attempts and conspiracies” aimed at obstructing the recruitment process, ensuring the recruitment of qualified youth as the first batch of first group officers who would contribute to the reconstruction of the state.

“This ruling is an acknowledgment of our government’s transparency and sincerity in recruitment,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the result brought much-needed reassurance to the aspirants.

Revanth Reddy once again congratulated the newly appointed officers and complimented the TGPSC officials for their role in implementing the recruitment process efficiently and credibly.

The Telangana High Court on February 5 upheld the appointment of these 563 candidates to the Group-I posts by the TGPSC and allowed the state government to go ahead with their appointments to various top administrative posts.

After the petitions were rejected by the SC, the petitioners moved to the Supreme Court by filing an appeal and challenging it. The petitioners raised objections to the conduct and propriety of the draft by submitting the SLP to the Supreme Court.

They raised several points challenging these recruitment processes, including double hall tickets, opaque and biased allocation of positions, unauthorized and opaque evaluation, complete absence of moderation, inconsistency of English qualifiers, systematic bias against Telugu medium candidates and many more.

But the Supreme Court dropped the charges against them and upheld the findings of the Telangana High Court bench.

The posts of the first group include Deputy Collectors, Revenue Divisional Officers, Mandal Revenue Officers, Mandal Parishad Development Officers, Deputy Superintendents of Police etc.

About 30,000 candidates appeared for the Group I examinations conducted between October 21 and 27, 2024. The results were announced on March 10, 2025. The TGPSC also released the overall rank list and list of shortlisted candidates on March 30, 2025.
