HT had earlier reported that the two women, a 21-year-old from Chhattisgarh and a 30-year-old from Bhopal, approached the police station on Sunday evening. While the two women contacted police separately, their accounts to police and in court were strikingly similar, police said. The duo claimed that other women were also victims in the racket.

Police said three people, including two women, were arrested for allegedly being involved in sex and drug trafficking.

The accused were identified as Amrin and Afreen and were arrested along with their accomplice Chandan Yadav following the complaint. Three other people, Bilal, Shano and Yasir, were booked but escaped, NDTV reported.

From rags to riches?

Police told HT that the accused are being investigated over their sources of income as the sisters rose from a slum in Abbas Nagar to a luxurious lifestyle as they recently moved to a villa in Royal Sagar Villas in Bhopal.
