CJP Live Protest: A day after the Cockroach Janta Party’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march to Parliament, party founder Abhijit Debke visited Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and met students who were injured in the protest on Monday. In a post on the X website, Debke said that the girl was “a girl in critical condition after being injured during the brutal attack.”

Police personnel on Monday used lathi shells and tear gas, with the CJP alleging brutality and accusing security personnel of “attacking” a truck carrying Dipki, activist Sonam Wangchuk’s wife Gitanjali J Angmo, and actors Shabana Azmi and Prakash Raj. About 50,000 demonstrators took to the streets on Monday to demand the resignation of union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The protest march, which began peacefully with protesters carrying flowers to police personnel, saw the main protest platform dismantled by policemen by late afternoon and protesters evacuated from Jantar Mantar. As crowd numbers increased at the protest site, students began climbing the iron barriers to cross and continue their peaceful march. Security forces then responded with a lathi attack that continued throughout the day. A number of demonstrators were injured during the march, and some were seen bleeding heavily from their heads.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police accused the protesters of displaying “unruly, aggressive and violent behaviour” during the march and accused them of attacking security personnel and damaging government vehicles and public property. More than 118 police officers were injured on Monday, cops said, claiming that protesters refused to disperse and “deliberately violated applicable ban orders.”
CJP members meet JP Nadda
Amid the protest march on Monday, the CJP said the government had approached the outfit for dialogue, after which its spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Sourav Das met union minister JP Nadda.
During the meeting, Nadda assured the CJP that the government would hold internal discussions on their demands. “The only guarantee we got is that he will talk to the leadership and share the conclusions with us,” Ranka told news agency PTI. CJP spokespersons met Nadda twice within two hours at the minister’s residence and submitted a memorandum stating their demands, including Pradhan’s resignation.
However, Ranka told HT late on Monday that “the meeting turned out to be useless,” adding that the CJP did not receive any response from the government after that. “Next time, we won’t talk to them until they come to the protest site. If they don’t value our time, we don’t value theirs either,” Ranka said.
Security remains in place, and demonstrators return to Jantar Mantar
Late on Monday, security remained tight as 40 to 50 security personnel were seen standing on the footpaths around the C-Hexagon, especially near the starting point of the Kartavia trail which was found fully barricaded.
Further down Ashoka Road and Raisina Road, a presence of security personnel was seen around the Indian Press Club, outside the Central Secretariat Metro station, and on the footpaths outside Railway Bhawan and Shastri Bhawan. The roads leading to Parliament were closed. Riot control vehicles, police buses and other four-wheelers and two-wheelers were found stationed on the roads.
Meanwhile, protesters returned to the platform that had been dismantled by Delhi Police, with the CJP’s Ranka saying they would remain there until their demands were met.
Wangchuk’s health remains stable
Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk remained at Vardaman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) and Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors said his condition was stable. According to the health bulletin issued on Monday, his vital indicators are within a stable range, while his blood indicators are on the lower side.
A multidisciplinary team of specialists from the hospital and AIIMS New Delhi are closely monitoring his health, the release said. Doctors said that continuous clinical monitoring is necessary to support his recovery from mild to moderate dehydration and to detect any potential complications at an early stage. On Monday, the activist demanded to be released from the hospital to join the protest march, and claimed that he was being held in “unlawful detention.”

CJP Jantar Mantar Live Protest: CJP Jantar Mantar Party coordinator Abhijit Debke, spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Sourav Das along with hundreds of protesters returned on Monday evening to the stage which was dismantled by Delhi Police.
Power was also cut off at the protest site, according to CJP. CJP spokesperson Ranka said they would continue the sit-in protest and would not move until union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned.
