Abhijit Deepki, founder of India’s Generation Z-led Cokruch Janta Party (CJP), said on Friday that his Instagram account had been “hacked” and he was unable to access it. He also said that the CJP’s backup Instagram account had been deleted by Meta.

The party, which was formed a day after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant made remarks using the terms “parasites” and “cockroaches” on May 15, quickly gained attention online and went viral. It received the support of politicians, activists, artists and a large number of social media users from different age groups.

Although the CJI later clarified that he had been misquoted and that his statements were specifically aimed at people entering the legal profession using “fake and fake certificates”, the CJP, who adopted the insect as his symbol, quickly gained traction across social media.

CJP founder says his Instagram account was hacked

In a post on X on Friday, Dipke said his Instagram account had been “hacked.” “@Meta, I lost access to my Instagram account. I’m trying to get it back but unable to,” he wrote in another post.

Meta has not yet issued a statement on the matter.

In another post, Debke wrote that the CJP’s backup Instagram account has also been deleted. It is worth noting that the party’s official account has more than 21 million followers.

On Thursday, the Cockroach Janta Party’s X account was blocked in India. The account, with the username CJP_2029, displays the message “Account has been blocked” in bold letters, followed by “@CJP_2029 has been blocked in IN in response to a legal request.”

The rise of the CJP

The Cockroach Janta Party was set up by Abhijit Debki following online criticism over CJI Surya Kant’s remarks, in which some unemployed youth were likened to “cockroaches” and “parasites”.

The political satire group says people can join if they are “unemployed, lazy, chronically online, and have the ability to scream professionally.”

The “founder president” of the CJP, Abhijit Debki, is a 30-year-old political communications strategist. He had previously worked with the Aam Aadmi Party and was involved in the party’s social media operations and election campaign.
