Security forces found a large cache of explosives, weapons and related equipment at a Maoist hideout in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district during a search operation, police said on Monday.

According to the Bijapur police, the body was recovered from the Patilpara hill area of Dudittumnar village under Gangalur police station limits.
The joint operation was carried out by teams from Bidiya Police Assistance Center and Gangalore Police Station after obtaining specific intelligence inputs regarding Maoist activity in the forested hill area.
Police said that security personnel discovered an underground bunker allegedly built and hidden earlier by Maoists during the search operation.
After conducting security checks and de-mining procedures, the team recovered a large amount of explosives-related equipment and materials from the site.
The seizures included two Honda generators, two lathes, an electrical transformer, four batteries, a small battery, eight solar panels, a motor, a welding machine, and a drilling machine.
The police also recovered a homemade BGL launcher, 29 BGL shells, about 50 meters of rope cord and two plastic barrels from the hideout.
Initial assessment suggests the equipment may have been used by Maoists to repair weapons, prepare explosives and carry out technical operations in remote forest areas, officials said.
Police said further legal action has been taken regarding the recovered items.
Security forces have intensified anti-Maoist search operations in Bijapur and neighboring areas in recent months to track down Maoist hideouts and weapons depots.
