Raipur: Chhattisgarh has bagged the top spot among major states in the national rankings for February 2026 under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, marking a milestone in the area of ​​women’s health, nutrition and empowerment, officials said on Wednesday.

Chhattisgarh recorded 93.37 per cent enrollment, 83.87 per cent approval rate and 93.95 per cent timely redressal of grievances, reflecting the state’s effective implementation of the scheme, an official statement said.

She said the proportion of cases pending for more than 30 days remained limited at 7.07 percent, while the rate of pending grievances reached only 4.96 percent, indicating effective monitoring and transparent service delivery.

She added that it is worth noting that the state improved its position by six places compared to the previous month, to emerge as the best performing state in the country.

Prime Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that this honor reflects the country’s ongoing commitment to strengthening maternity care programmes.

Sai congratulated the officials, employees, anganwadi workers and field staff of the Women and Child Development Department, stressing that maternal and child health is the government’s top priority.

He pointed out that the association plays a major role in promoting safe motherhood by providing financial assistance to pregnant women.

Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade described the achievement as a proud moment for Chhattisgarh.

She said that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, Chhattisgarh effectively implemented pioneering women welfare programs among the states and attributed the success to the coordinated efforts, commitment and timely action of departmental officials, employees and anganwadi workers.

Rajwade informed that in the financial year 2025-26 so far, a total of 1,86,586 pregnant women have been registered under PMMVY in Chhattisgarh, and an amount $72,24,89,000 were transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.

The effective implementation of PMMVY has strengthened maternal and child healthcare services in the state, with Chhattisgarh increasingly emerging as a model for other states across the country.

Under the programme, a cash incentive of $Officials said that £5,000 in three installments would be paid directly to pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers for the first surviving child in the family, provided they meet specific conditions.
