Raipur, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has appealed to public representatives from the state and women’s organizations to actively participate in ensuring effective and time-bound implementation of the Women’s Reservation Act.

In separate letters to all Chhattisgarh Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, legislators and women’s organisations, Sai called for a proactive role in implementing ‘Nari Shakti Vandhan Adhiniyam’ before the 2029 general elections and assembly elections so that women can get their due rights as soon as possible, an official statement said on Tuesday.
The Budget session of Parliament has been extended, and a special three-day session of the Assembly has been held from April 16 to 18, during which amendments to the Nari Shakti Vandhan Adhiniyam, more commonly known as the Women’s Reservation Act, will be brought forward for implementation in 2029.
Chhattisgarh has 11 Lok Sabha members, five Rajya Sabha members, and 90 MLAs.
Sai said the proposed discussion on the law in Parliament marks an important occasion in the country’s democratic history. He pointed out that the unanimous adoption of the legislation in 2023 reflects democratic unity and collective commitment to empowering women.
The Prime Minister urged the MPs to play a constructive and active role in ensuring the implementation of the law before the 2029 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections so that women can urgently secure their legitimate entitlements.
In his message to the MLAs, he emphasized the need to ensure meaningful participation of women in decision-making processes, noting that empowerment under the leadership of ‘Matru Shakti’ is vital for the overall development of the country.
The Prime Minister called on the lawmakers to strengthen the voice of Chhattisgarh in support of women’s reservation and help foster a positive atmosphere during the discussions.
In letters to women’s organizations, Sai expressed his appreciation for their continued efforts in promoting women’s empowerment and recognized their role in leading positive social change.
He stressed that the scheduled parliamentary debate is not just a legislative exercise but a historic step towards empowering half the population and making democracy more inclusive and responsive.
The Prime Minister said that the discussion coincides with the ‘Mehtari Gaurav Varsh’ celebration in Chhattisgarh.
He stressed that the state has always been at the forefront of women’s empowerment, pointing to its notable participation in the Council.
Sai highlighted the clear impact of 50 per cent reservation for women in local bodies, along with initiatives like ‘Mahatari Vandhan Yojana’ and ‘Rani Durgavati Yojana’ in the state.
He appealed to women’s organizations to raise their voice in support of the initiative through their respective platforms to help build positive momentum nationwide in favor of women’s reservation.
The Prime Minister said that these organizations will not only witness the change but will also play a key role in shaping it.
He further urged all public representatives and women’s groups to unite in support of women’s reservation and expressed confidence that collective efforts will ensure the success of the initiative and open a new phase in strengthening Indian democracy.
