In his first response to the US Supreme Court’s order nullifying the reciprocal tariffs imposed, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Saturday said the Center will examine the ruling and the Commerce Ministry or the Ministry of External Affairs will formally respond to it.

“I have read in the media that the US Supreme Court has issued some rulings and the Indian government will look into that, and whatever reaction should be given, will be given by the commerce ministry and MEA, not by me,” Joshi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Joshi’s comments come after the US Supreme Court declared Trump’s reciprocal tariffs unconstitutional in a 6-3 ruling. The court said the Trump administration exceeded its authority by invoking the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) of 1977 to impose those tariffs.
India has not yet officially responded to the ruling yet.
But after the US Supreme Court order, US President Donald Trump confirmed that the trade deal between the US and India would not be affected and that India would continue to pay tariffs.
