As the controversy surrounding the alleged assault on a KDMC hospital doctor continues, the family of the pregnant patient in question has supported Mahesh Mhatre, founder of Shiv Sena. The patient’s mother on Wednesday claimed that doctors refused to treat her daughter despite repeated pleas, insisting that the case registered against the company was “completely false”.

“My eldest daughter was pregnant and we took her to the hospital after doing an ultrasound and all other tests. We told them it was an emergency, but they said they could not treat her and asked us to take her to Sion Hospital,” she told news agency ANI.

Karande said the family repeatedly urged medical staff to reconsider because heavy flooding made travel difficult and they feared for the patient’s condition.

She said: “We asked the doctors to explain to us that the roads were flooded and that it would take hours to reach another hospital. We told them that my daughter’s life was in danger and asked for her delivery to take place there. We repeatedly appealed to the doctors and staff, but they refused and insisted on transferring her to another hospital. My daughter was in a critical condition.”

The family says they have sought Mhatre’s help

After repeated requests for treatment failed, the family decided to contact Mahesh Mhatre for help, Karande said.

According to her, the company interrogated hospital workers because they refused to treat the patient despite her health condition. She also rejected the charges against him.

“We didn’t know what to do, so we called Dada. We asked him how we could transfer her in such conditions. He wondered why the hospital was refusing treatment despite her condition. The doctors were not responding to our calls, so Dada came to the hospital to help. The case against Dada is completely false. He always stood by our side. That’s why I contacted him,” she said.

Mhatre expresses remorse and denies the assault allegations

Earlier, in a press conference, Mhatre expressed his regret over the incident but denied assaulting the female doctor.

He claimed images from CCTV footage could appear misleading due to the camera angle, and said he only tapped the doctor’s hand while trying to get her attention, claiming she was talking on the phone instead of listening to the family’s complaint.

“I express my regret for the incident of assault that occurred. I confidently state that I did not raise my hand on the doctor. What is shown in the CCTV footage may look like that because of the camera angle. I address her informally (using ‘tu’) because she is like my daughter. I don’t even know if she is married or not. While we were talking, she kept talking on the phone and was not listening to our complaint, which is why I patted her hand. Guided by Balasaheb’s teachings, we have never raised our hand against women, and we will not do so in the future,” Mhatre said. The future.”

He added that the accident occurred due to a systemic failure within the hospital. He added: “We will strive to address these shortcomings. The individuals who prompted my visit there will provide more details about the entire incident. The people who contacted me did not return my calls. I arrived at the scene due to the seriousness of the situation. They are the ones who will provide full details.”
