“Some people sitting outside think that they will dictate direction to the youth of India,” BJP president Nitin Nabin said on Saturday, hours after a large crowd gathered at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to protest recent exam lapses under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party.

The BJP president said that while the youth “want to work towards building the nation and securing their future”, some people “have described the youth of this country as anti-establishment”.

The protest was called by the youth-led CJP, a fictitious political party that recently emerged following Chief Justice of India Surya Kant’s alleged remarks about unemployed youth in the country.

“To those who want to drag the youth of this country into negative politics, I warn them that the youth of India will engage in positive politics. We will oppose on the basis of democracy, but we will not allow the norms of democracy to be destroyed,” Nabin said at the ‘Intellectuals Meet’ in Ranchi.

He said that people have the right to dissent, but within democratic norms.

He said that the country’s youth are known for their innovation and creativity.

“Due to their dedication, hard work and efforts, about two startups have emerged. The country aims to become a global IT hub,” Nabin said.

“The anti-establishment campaigns that we have witnessed in our neighboring countries can never be for the youth of the country who will work in a disciplined manner to build the nation,” he said.

The Justice and Development Party demands the resignation of the Minister of Education

The Central government has so far not issued any direct comments on the CJP protest even as protesters and CJP supporters have demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over major exam lapses, including NEET papers leak and the CBSE OSM mess, over the past few weeks.

In a statement after the protest, the party set a seven-day deadline for Pradhan’s resignation and threatened to spark nationwide unrest if no action was taken.

“If we want to reset the education system, we must start by sacking the education minister. As long as he remains in office, we cannot begin the process of restoring the education system in this country. This is the beginning of a movement. If no action is taken within seven days, this movement will spread across the country,” the CJP said in its statement.
