A 26-year-old woman, who worked as a dancer in a cabaret, was found dead hanging in a hotel within the limits of Langer Hauz police station in Hyderabad on Thursday evening, after she had checked in with her boyfriend for the evening.

The two had been in a relationship for six months after meeting in a bar, news agency ANI reported, citing a Langer Hous police official.

Biryani, birthday, gift, then suicide

The woman, a dancer at Kings and Queens Club in Kukatpally, was reportedly a resident of Bolaram and previously lived in Mukatpally. Police said she had been married for eight years and had a seven-year-old son, but was living separately from her husband.

Langer-Huez police were quoted as saying that she met a man in a bar six months ago and entered into a relationship with him.

The man, a resident of Golconda area, came to the V Grand hotel room on Thursday evening with the victim but left later.

After checking in, the couple ordered biryani at the hotel, officials said, adding that the man later left to attend a function.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., the woman reportedly video-called another friend and stated that her birthday was the next day, telling her friend: “I have a birthday present for you.”

She was later found dead, hanging in the hotel room.

The woman’s boyfriend is also married and has three children, officials said. He has been arrested by police and is currently in custody for questioning.

The police took the woman’s body to Osmania General Hospital for an autopsy.

“We have taken the body of the deceased for post-mortem examination (PME) and are investigating the matter,” the police said.

In a separate case, a woman and her newborn baby were found dead in a hostel in Kerala’s Thrissur district last week, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

The deceased woman was a native of Edamottam.

According to police, the woman and the auto-rickshaw driver entered a hostel in the city at around 2.30 pm on Saturday. Police believe the room may have been taken while she was about to give birth, news agency PTI reported.

The bodies were discovered after the rickshaw driver returned to the hostel when the woman did not answer his phone calls.

The hostel staff informed the police after becoming suspicious of the situation. Police forces and fire and rescue crews arrived at the scene and forcefully opened the room.

Inside, they found the woman and newborn dead. The bodies of the woman and the child were found lying in a pool of blood.
