Patna: The Bihar government on Saturday decided to hand over the investigation into the mysterious death of a 17-year-old NEET candidate to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), demanding a high court probe by the deceased’s parents.
Bihar seeks CBI probe into NEET candidate’s death (Hindustan Times File)State Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chowdhury in a post on X said: “Prime Minister Nitish Kumar has requested the central government to hand over the investigation into the death of a NEET student in Patna to the CBI so that the incident can be thoroughly investigated in a transparent and impartial manner.”
However, the parents of the deceased have expressed mistrust of the CBI, suspecting delay in charges and tampering with evidence.
“We never demanded a CBI probe. The CBI will do the same as the SIT is doing. There should be a court-supervised probe,” the girl’s father said.
The 17-year-old girl was found unconscious in her hostel room in Patna on January 6. He died in a hospital on January 11.
