In a major relief to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), the Delhi High Court has ordered the group’s X account unblocked. The order was passed by Justice Suwarana Kanta Sharma, after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who represents the Centre, told the court why the account was blocked.

Mehta said the move was taken in view of the NEET re-examination as some posts “could have created chaos” among students and parents. He later said that now that the exam was over, the fears no longer existed.
Taking into consideration the submissions, Justice Sharma ordered restoration of X’s account and said that the “primary concern behind the ban order is no longer relevant”. The NEET re-test was conducted on June 21, weeks after the previous test was canceled after a paper leak was discovered.
Why was CJP’s X account banned?
The Cockroach Janta party started out as a satirical group but gained popularity among the youth after the cancellation of the NEET exam, which sparked widespread anger among aspirants and their parents.
While the CJP was gaining a huge following on social media, its X account was suspended in India in May.
According to
Soon after, the CJP returned with another account titled “The Return of the Cockroach.” The party continues to use the account for regular updates.
Notably, the CJP has since staged major protests in Delhi at Jantar Mantar seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak. Tuesday marks the 10th day of activist Sonam Wangchuk’s indefinite hunger strike over the issue.
Debki also traveled to Maharashtra on Monday and participated in the students’ protest against the alleged paper leak in his hometown of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
