A woman’s online date four years ago turned into horror after she recently found intimate videos of herself that were said to have been shared online — on Reddit and a website containing adult content.

It all goes back to November 2022 when the 28-year-old woman from Bengaluru met a man on dating app Bumble, and the two dated briefly before cutting all ties, NDTV reported. The man allegedly blocked her from all social media platforms shortly after the date. But four years later, he may be under the scanner as videos of intimate moments emerged online, after which the woman approached police.

According to reports, the two talked on Bumble and later exchanged social media profiles and added each other on Instagram. She even checked his Bumble profile through his Instagram account to make sure he wasn’t impersonating someone else.
On their first date, which also ended up being their last, the two met at the man’s apartment where he offered her a drink. Later, they became intimate.
The woman claimed that after this meeting, the man cut off contact with her and eventually blocked her on social media, thus becoming isolated from the outside world.

But nearly four years later, the woman was surprised to see videos of her private moments at that meeting shared on Reddit and an adult website, which she was said to have been unaware of.
She finally contacted the police on June 19 and filed a complaint in relation to the case, demanding that action be taken against the accused.
A case was registered and the police opened an investigation to track down the accused and determine how the videos were recorded and uploaded. It is worth noting that all videos have been removed.

Non-consensual intimate images (NCII) – creating, sharing, publishing or threatening to share intimate images or videos of someone without their consent – falls under cybercrime. India has seen a rise in the number of cases of NCII – also called revenge porn. It usually involves former partners. However, the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) does not have a separate category for NCII and covers such cases under the categories of cybercrime or obscenity.
