Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Sunday said that Tirupati Bar is an integral part of the justice delivery system and cannot be separated, even though people believe that the responsibility of delivering justice lies with the court alone, which may be a myth.

After laying the foundation stone of the district court complex here, CJI Kant said that the rod and the bench are not antagonists, but are indebted to the same institution. A strong barrier produces strong support, and when there is strong support, it challenges judges to think harder, think more carefully, and write more clearly.

Judge Kant said: “Dear members of the Bar Association, you are an integral part of the judicial system and the system of achieving justice. You cannot be dismissed, as people sometimes believe that achieving justice is the responsibility of the judiciary only. This may be a myth, and it may not be a real reality.”

He also said that the quality of assistance provided by the Bar Association is reflected in the general work of the judge. The better the lawyers’ arguments, the better the quality of the ruling, and when there is a better reasoned ruling, public confidence in the rule of law is built.

Justice Kant said he strongly supports that court complexes need to act and behave like hospitals. When a patient goes, the first thing to do is provide him with first aid so that he feels that he is in safe hands, as his life is not in danger.

He said: “The same thing must happen with the consumer of justice who comes to you. Once he enters this complex, he must have a feeling that he will not leave this complex until justice is ensured. This, my dear friends in the Bar Association, is an equal responsibility of both the Bar Association and the judiciary.”

He also said that whatever part of the country he visits, he appeals to all state governments to provide judicial infrastructure that will take care of the next 50-100 years.

Justice Kant said that after some time, good places for judicial infrastructure may not be available, as the territory shrinks, the country develops, the population also grows, industrialization develops, and urbanization amplifies.

Supreme Court Justices B S Narasimha, Prasanth Kumar Mishra, S V N Bhatti and Joymalia Bagchi and Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court Dheeraj Singh Thakur were also present at the event.
