Police are maintaining constant surveillance in and around the protest site, while additional personnel are stationed at strategic locations.
Security has been tightened across the New Delhi area ahead of the monsoon Parliament session and the ‘Chalo Sansad’ rally proposed by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Monday, July 20, with the Delhi Police imposing prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS.
The tight security measures come after the CJP announced a march to protest against alleged irregularities in the NEET exam and demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Why were the restrictions imposed?
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Sharma issued a public warning on the
“Accordingly, protest marches, processions, demonstrations and gatherings of five or more people are strictly prohibited, except at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar, after obtaining prior permission,” Delhi Police said in its X post.
The police added that preventive deployment will remain in place throughout the parliament session.

What is prohibited?
Under this order, the following activities are prohibited in the New Delhi area:
* Holding any general meeting
* A gathering of five or more people
* Carrying firearms, banners, banners, spears, swords, sticks and bricks
* Launching slogans
* Giving speeches
*Processions and demonstrations
* Sit-ins or dharnas in any public place within the specified area without written permission
Covered area and legal provisions
The restrictions apply to the entire area of Parliament Street Branch, except for the exempted area of Jantar Mantar Road shown on the map attached to the order. The order states that activities in the exempted area may be permitted after 5:00 p.m. if prior written permission is obtained.

The order was issued by Ajay Sharma, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Parliament Branch Street, New Delhi District, under the powers exercised under the Delhi Police Act, 1978, read with Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Act, 2023.
It also states that any person violating the order will be punished under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
