Army cadet accuses TTE of attempted rape on train in UP

LUCKNOW: A young Army aspirant on her way to UP’s Mau by train for her NCC ‘C-certificate’ exam has filed a police complaint against TTE, accusing him of trying to rape her inside the First AC compartment of the Ahmedabad-Gorakhpur express train on Sunday, reports Pathikrit Chakraborty.

GRP has announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to the arrest of absconding suspect Rahul Kumar. The 24-year-old complainant, who was traveling from Gorakhpur, said the ticket examiner offered her a place on the AC bus after finding out that she did not have a ticket. The woman said she was in a hurry and boarded the train hoping that she would get a ticket from the TTE after paying the required fine. “He threatened to prosecute me for traveling without a ticket if I revealed to anyone what he tried to do,” she said.
