Three armed robbers barged into the house of an Assistant Commissioner of Goods and Services Tax in Alwar, Rajasthan, tied up his family and threatened his family at gunpoint for one and a half hours, then fled with about 15 tolas worth of gold jewellery, cash and other valuables on Saturday morning, police said.

The robbery took place at the residence of Om Prakash, assistant commissioner of the GST department, in Shalimar Nagar.
Police officers said the thieves were suspected to have climbed onto the roof late on Friday and remained hidden throughout the night. “At around 6am on Saturday, when the family opened the roof gate, the three men allegedly entered the house at gunpoint,” an officer said.
“The robbers overpowered Om Prakash, his wife and children, bound and gagged four members of the family, and assaulted them when they resisted. The robbers allegedly threatened to kill the family and rape the officer’s wife if the family did not cooperate,” the officer added.
The robbers allegedly forced the woman to remove her jewelry before ransacking the house. “They escaped with around 15 tolas of gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth several thousand rupees,” a police officer said, adding that before escaping, they allegedly warned the family not to inform the police.
A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examined the crime scene and collected evidence.
The police are scanning surveillance camera footage from the surrounding area and analyzing technical evidence to identify and trace the accused.
Additional Superintendent of Police Priyanka Raghuvanshi said that investigators are probing the case from all angles.
