Amaravati, SDMA on Thursday warned that extreme heatwave conditions and high temperatures are likely to continue in several parts of Andhra Pradesh over the next four days and advised people to avoid traveling during peak hours during the day.

According to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, the highest temperature this summer season so far was recorded at 47.6 degrees Celsius in Pidugurala in Palnadu district, while temperatures exceeded 45 degrees Celsius in 11 districts.
“The heat intensity has reached extreme levels in the state and similar conditions are likely to continue over the next four days. People should postpone travel as much as possible between 11 am and 4 pm,” SDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain said in an official statement.
Temperatures are likely to range between 45 degrees Celsius and 47 degrees Celsius on Thursday in parts of Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Polavaram, Anakapally, Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu and Prakasam districts, he said.
Temperatures are expected to range between 44°C and 45°C in parts of Vizianagaram and Markapuram districts, while temperatures are likely to range between 40°C and 43°C in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Kadapa, Annamaya, Chittoor and Tirupati districts.

Other temperatures recorded included 46 degrees Celsius in Tanukku in West Godavari district, 45.9 degrees in Kolluru in Bapatla district and Toragudibbadu in NTR district, 45.7 degrees in Alipalli in Eluru district and 45.6 degrees in Kondabi in Prakasam district.
Temperatures also reached 45.5 degrees Celsius in Chityala in East Godavari district, 45.4 degrees in Gudur in Nellore district, 45 degrees in Konnavaram in Polavaram district, 44.8 degrees in Bandrapadu in Guntur district, and 44.5 degrees in Ramachandrapuram in Kunaseema district.
Likewise, the temperatures recorded were 44.4 degrees Celsius at Makavarapalem in Anakapally district and Pulathota in Tirupati district, 43.6 degrees at Mullagadda in Visakhapatnam district, 43.5 degrees at Kaguluru in Kakinada district, and 43.1 degrees at Alagadda in Nandyal district.
The SDMA advised people to remain alert, avoid exposure to heat, and consume adequate amounts of water, lemon water, yogurt, and coconut water.
