Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday said the Center was making sustained efforts to ensure the safe return of Indians stranded amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, describing the situation as “volatile”.

Speaking to reporters at Rambapuri Mutt in Chikkamagaluru, Joshi said he would take up the matter with the authorities concerned in New Delhi.

“The situation there (in the Middle East) is very difficult. I learned that the Kannada people are stranded,” Joshi said.
Noting that the government is closely monitoring developments, he added: “I will go to Delhi today and speak to the ministers concerned. All efforts will be made to bring the Indians back there safely.”

Referring to previous evictions, the minister said: “We succeeded in bringing everyone back during the war in the Modi government.”
He warned that the situation in the region is still unstable.

“Right now, the situation there is turbulent. Even flying there is dangerous,” Joshi said.
“Our efforts are on to bring people back there safely,” the Union Minister said, adding: “JD(S) MLC Bhoje Gowda, who is stranded in Dubai with his family, and all the passengers with him must be brought back safely.”
