Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) spokesperson TKS Elangovan on Wednesday mocked the appointment of TVK spokesperson and astrologer Ricky Radhan Pandit Vetrivel as an officer on special duty to Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, saying all the astrologer can do is make predictions.

He noted that Vettrivel would need a consultant as per government rules and powers.
He said: “From now on, the House of Representatives has no role to play. Only the timing will be decided by the astrologers. He is not responsible. He needs someone who can advise him properly according to the rules and according to the authorities of the government. What can an astrologer do? He can predict, that’s all. He has more confidence in him than his party.”

Speaking to ANI, Elangovan responded to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s anti-Santan statement, saying the DMK opposes the practice of caste separation between communities. He added that south India is an egalitarian society, unlike north India, where “people are divided into four castes by birth.”
“Sanatan means indestructible. According to their views, Manodharma is indestructible. Manodharma is not the culture of the South. South India is an egalitarian society. In the North, it is not like that. People were divided into four classes by birth. We will not accept that. This practice has come to Tamil Nadu. This is not our culture. This is what he said. The DMK is against Sanatan Dharma for this reason. This party was started in 1916. When the Justice Party was founded, they followed this policy, and after That is, when the DMK came, we continued to follow this policy.”
Earlier on Sunday, Elangovan said any allegations made against the DMK must be backed by evidence, stressing that the DMK government has brought many schemes in Tamil Nadu. Speaking to ANI, he pointed out that no money was wasted in the state.

“Not a single penny has been wasted. Everyone has benefited from the budget and the DMK schemes have been of particular benefit to the deprived sections of society. Whatever false allegations they make against the DMK, they should be ready to prove it with evidence. The DMK Stalin government has done a lot of good things for the people of Tamil Nadu,” he said.
The remarks came after actor-turned-politician and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay criticized the erstwhile DMK, highlighting its huge debts. $10 million crore and accused them of emptying the state treasury. (that I)
