“That is why we visited BJP MLA Anupama Jaiswal and wished her a speedy recovery. Politics has its place, but human relations are equally important. Harmony must prevail.”
Jaiswal’s husband, Ashok Jaiswal, described the visit as a gesture of “human sensitivity and democratic courtesy,” according to the agency. He added that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spoke to the affected MLA and issued necessary instructions for her treatment.
How did a BJP MLA suffer from burn injuries
It all started with BJP leaders protesting against the opposition over the issue of women’s reservation. The protest was held under the slogan ‘Mahila Janakrosh March’ in Lucknow on Saturday afternoon near the residence of the district magistrate, where effigies of Akhilesh and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi were set on fire, according to eyewitnesses.
When the MLA set the doll on fire, an explosion sounding like firecrackers was heard and the flames jumped straight towards Jaiswal’s face causing minor injuries.
Doctors said the MLA suffered serious burns, with about 75% of her face affected.
Parts of her ear and forehead sustained 60% burns, while injuries were also reported to her eyebrows, nose, lips and eyes, with one eye partially affected.
Akhilesh Yadav had commented on the incident by posting a video of the incident on his account
