Airport authorities said on Tuesday that a plane heading to Abu Dhabi with about 260 passengers on board canceled its flight before take-off due to a “technical malfunction.” The authorities said that due to the accident, no one was injured.

They added that the Etihad Airways flight was canceled due to a technical accident. They added that all passengers were disembarked safely.

The statement from the airline said: “Etihad Airways flight EY343 from Chennai International Airport (MAA) to Zayed International Airport (AUH) on May 12 returned to the gate before departure due to a technical issue, and guests were subsequently disembarked. The flight is currently expected to depart approximately three hours later than scheduled. Emergency services have been activated as a precautionary measure, based on safety protocols at Chennai International Airport (MAA).”

The statement added: “The safety and comfort of our guests and crew remains Etihad Airways’ top priority.”

Meanwhile, Chennai Airport said: “The Etihad Airways flight scheduled to take off from Chennai to Abu Dhabi at 10:15 am returned to the platform due to a technical issue.”

“We recommend passengers check with the airline for further updates,” the update said.
