Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Debki on Tuesday alleged that “some people from the RSS” were behind the attack on him during a protest in Jaipur the previous day, claiming that the incident was aimed at diverting attention from the issues raised by the students.

Debki made the remarks at Nagpur airport on Tuesday morning ahead of the protest planned by the CJP at Samvidhan Maidan later in the day. The party is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET (UG) papers leak issue.

Attack during Jaipur protest

Abhijit Debaki was allegedly assaulted on Monday while arriving at Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur to lead a demonstration against exam paper leakage and unemployment.

According to party leaders and videos from the scene, Debaki was being carried on the shoulders of his supporters when two men approached him, pulled his scarf, and slapped him several times. His supporters intervened and beat the attackers before handing them over to the police.

Police arrested two young men in connection with the incident.

The Jaipur protest attracted participation from students, unemployed youth and families affected by exam-related controversies. This was one of many public meetings that Debaki has been addressing across different states ahead of his planned larger rally in Delhi on June 20.

Dipke refers to RSS

When asked in Nagpur who he believed was behind the attack, Debke claimed that individuals associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) were involved.

He added: “There were some people who belonged to the RSS, and there is nothing new about it.”

Debke claimed that such incidents happen when someone speaks against the government or its ideology.

Responding to allegations that he was previously associated with the RSS and had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Debki said: “Is this why they attacked me yesterday?”

The RSS did not respond to these allegations.

“An attempt to divert attention”

Debke described the attack as an attempt to divert attention from the issues raised by the students.

He said, “We will not deviate from our issues; you attack us as much as you want. We will carry out our protest peacefully and democratically and will not deviate from our main issue, which is that more than a million students are suffering from injustice, and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must bear responsibility for it.”

In a video message posted on social media after the Jaipur incident, Debke urged his supporters not to be distracted by the attack and reiterated the demand for Pradhan’s resignation.

He said that the movement would remain peaceful despite repeated attempts to intimidate participants.

Questions asked about security

AKP leaders accused local authorities in Jaipur of failing to prevent the attack.

State spokesman Abhishek Jain Bittu said the incident raised questions about the role of the police and the government, claiming that the authorities failed to stop the attackers despite their presence at the scene.

One of the protest participants, Neelam Kranti, also claimed that requests for police intervention during the unrest went unanswered.

Nagpur protest under tight security

Ahead of Tuesday’s demonstration at Samvidhan Maidan, authorities in Nagpur had put in place elaborate security arrangements.

More than 2,000 youth are expected to participate in the rally, police officials said. Security measures have been beefed up at key locations across the city in light of the expected turnout.

Debaki appealed to residents, students and youth to join the protest, describing it as a peaceful demonstration focusing on student issues.
