Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) founder C Joseph Vijay was sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlikar administered the oath of office to Vijay at a ceremonial ceremony around 10 am at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.

The event marked the first time a non-Dravidian party formed the government in the state since 1967, breaking the traditional dominance of the AIADMK and DMK. Follow live updates here.
Meanwhile, Governor Arlikar had earlier approved CM Vijay’s recommendation on appointment of 9 ministers, Lok Bhavan said in a statement.
The new cabinet includes Minister S Keerthana.
“C. Joseph Vijay, the chief minister-designate, recommended a list of nine persons to be appointed as ministers on May 9. The governor approved the recommendation regarding appointment of ministers,” the statement said.

- N. Anand (Bussy Anand): General Secretary of the party and elected MLA from Thiyagarayanagar.
- Aadhav Arjuna: General Secretary, Election Campaign Department and MLA-elect from Villivakkam.
- Dr KG Arunraj: A former IPS officer is now the General Secretary, Policy and Publicity, and the MLA-elect for Tiruchengudu.
- KA Sengottaiyan: Veteran politician and nine-time MLA who joined TVK from AIADMK; He serves as the chief coordinator of the party’s executive committee.
- P. Venkataramanan: Party Treasurer and MLA-elect for Mylapore
- R. Nirmalkumar (CTR Nirmal Kumar): Joint General Secretary and elected MLA of Thirupparankundram.
- Rajmohan (Rajmohan Arumugam): Publicity Secretary and elected MLA for Egmore.
- Dr TK Prabhu: Dentist turned politician working as Sivaganga East District Party Secretary and elected MLA for Karaikudi.
- Selvi S. Keerthana: An elected MLA from Virudhunagar district, he is set to be the youngest face in the new government.
Vijay is expected to prove his majority in the Assembly through a vote of confidence on or before May 13.
