A training plane crashed on the side of the road in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district on Monday, injuring the trainee pilot flying the plane.

The plane, a Cessna 152, crashed in a field near a highway under construction in Kasganj.

Local witnesses reported that the plane fell on overhead wires before landing along the road.

The trainee pilot was the only person on board. She is reportedly safe and transported to an area hospital. The plane belonged to Chetak Aviation Academy, based in Aligarh.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said in a statement that the trainee pilot was flying alone when the Cessna plane crashed. The aviation authority said it was investigating the accident, adding that the pilot was fine.
