A 23-year-old woman accused of orchestrating her mother’s murder in Jaipur to get a government job on compassionate grounds faces new allegations that her father’s death a year ago may also have been part of a larger conspiracy, police said on Saturday.
The mother, identified as Neeraj Sharma, 45, was out for a morning walk about 100 meters from her home when she was run over by a Scorpio SUV on July 3, police said, adding that the killing was suspected to have been carefully planned to resemble a road accident.
The police have so far arrested five accused, including daughter Ayushi Sharma, in connection with the case. Police said Balram, Ayushi’s cousin, made the arrangements $7 lakh to hire contract killers and hand over the money to co-accused Hemant.

Neeraj Sharma’s brother, Rakesh Sharma, has claimed that the death of his brother-in-law, Vijay Sharma, chief justice of the Rajasthan High Court, was not natural, and urged police to investigate it as a possible conspiracy. Balram was also accused of being the mastermind behind both incidents.
DCP Ranjita Sharma said that the police are looking for Balram and will also examine the complaint filed by Neeraj’s family.
“The police are still investigating the allegations made by Rakesh Sharma. The case is being examined from every angle,” Pratap Nagar SHO Puranmal Yadav said.

According to Rakesh Sharma, Vijay Sharma suffered a brain hemorrhage last year. Ayushi and Balram allegedly told the family that a senior doctor had advised that he be shifted to another hospital for better care. Rakesh claimed that after three months, the family was informed that Vijay’s condition had deteriorated and he was shifted to the intensive care unit of another private hospital. Doctors told his relatives that most of his organs were severely damaged. He was returned to his home, where he died shortly afterwards.
“Ayushi was a friendly and caring girl, and in any case, as the eldest child, she was expected to inherit the family property. Balram manipulated and influenced her, pushing her into a plot to kill her mother,” Rakesh Sharma said.
