A scuffle broke out at Kolkata airport on Friday evening, ahead of Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee’s arrival from Delhi. The quarrel was captured on camera, as a number of people were seen shouting at each other.

Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee, was scheduled to land at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, returning from Delhi. TMC and BJP supporters gathered at the arrival gate. TMC supporters alleged that BJP supporters came with eggs to throw eggs at Banerjee. A quarrel broke out between the two groups.
The TMC also alleged that a BJP worker came armed to kill the Lok Sabha MP from Diamond Harbour.
A supporter of Abhishek Banerjee said that a “BJP person” arrived at the airport, followed by some boys with eggs in their hands. A supporter of Abhishek Banerjee was quoted as saying, “We asked them not to start this culture, they said we taught them this… They started misbehaving with our people… We asked CRPF to keep them away… They took out their weapons at the airport, how can they bring weapons in the presence of airport authorities?” that I.
The clip also showed a man trying to hit another with a helmet, while people around him tried to stop him. Union Minister and BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar was also present at the airport and appealed to people to “maintain peace and have faith in the law”.
Abhishek Banerjee was in Delhi earlier today to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to argue against 20 TMC members who announced merger with NCPI in Tripura.
He has now returned to Kolkata and was seen entering his residence along with TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee.
